Responsible tourism
ESNNA Code
Code of conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESNNA) in tourism, approved by Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR).
Our commitment
WPeru-Travel has adopted the Code of Conduct that promotes policies to prevent the use and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism. In line with Peruvian law, we warn every tourist that the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors in Peru are crimes punishable by law.
We promote responsible tourism that respects everyone's rights, especially those of children and adolescents. That is why we apply these measures:
- We reject any activity that directly or indirectly favours the exploitation of minors in tourism.
- We continuously train our staff and partners to detect and prevent situations of risk.
- We keep internal reporting channels and cooperate with the authorities to report any sign of exploitation.
- We restrict minors' access to places where they may be exposed to risk.
- We inform our travellers about the legal and moral consequences of child abuse.
We believe tourism should contribute to social and economic development without compromising the integrity of the most vulnerable, and we work with our business partners so that every travel experience lives up to these values.
Laws that punish conduct related to ESNNA:
- Ley N° 29408 – General Tourism Law and its Regulations (Supreme Decree No. 003-2010-MINCETUR).
- Ley N° 30963 – Amends the Criminal Code on the penalties for sexual exploitation and related crimes, with special emphasis on children, adolescents and women.
- Ley N° 30802 – Sets conditions for children and adolescents entering lodging establishments, to guarantee their protection and integrity.
This agency does not promote or allow the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, or any other crime we become aware of in the course of our business, in accordance with Law No. 29408, the General Tourism Law.
