Itinerary
The tour begins by crossing the river to the higher districts. In Yanahuara you will walk under its famous arches made of sillar (white volcanic stone). From here you get the perfect postcard photo with the imposing Misti volcano in the background.
You will return to the historic centre and walk around the beautiful main square, unique in Peru for being built entirely of sillar. You will see the façade of the great Cathedral Basilica and its colonial arcades.
Located on a corner of the square. You will go inside to see its Andean Baroque carvings. Its stone inner courtyards are beautiful and very quiet.
The tour ends at this impressive colonial convent, like a small walled city inside Arequipa. You will walk along its famous bright blue and red streets, surrounded by courtyards full of flowers.
The tour ends in the historic centre. You will be free to enjoy the Arequipa evening and try a delicious queso helado, the city’s traditional dessert.
