Discover two of the most impressive attractions of the Sacred Valley. Visit the Maras Salt Mines and learn about the ancestral process of salt extraction. Then explore Moray, the famous Inca agricultural laboratory composed of circular terraces that create distinct microclimates, reflecting the advanced agricultural knowledge of this civilization.

We will walk next to more than 3,000 white salt pits that glisten in the sun. It is an incredible landscape where salt water gushes from the mountain since the time of the Incas.

We will observe the impressive circular wells that look like giant amphitheaters. The Incas used them as laboratories to recreate different climates and grow plants from the jungle and the coast in the mountains.

We will learn how the Incas achieved differences of up to 15°C between the highest and deepest terraces to adapt plants from the jungle and the coast to the height of the Andes

We will observe closely the small stream of hot and extremely salty water that gushes from the interior of the mountain and fills each well.
08:00 AM – 08:30 AM: Pick up from your hotel.
Tourist transport passes through the center of Cusco to start the journey to the Sacred Valley.
08:30 AM – 09:40 AM: Bus ride.
You will cross the beautiful Chinchero plateau. From the windows of the bus you can see the crop fields and the impressive snow-capped mountains of the mountain range, such as the Chicón and the Veronica.
09:45 AM – 11:00 AM: Moray Agricultural Laboratory.
You will visit these impressive concentric circular terraces that look like giant amphitheaters. The Incas used them to experiment with plants. Each level has a different climate and temperature, which allowed them to adapt seeds from the jungle or the coast to the height of the mountains.
11:15 AM – 12:30 PM: Maras Salt Mines.
You will travel along a dirt road until you reach a hidden canyon. Here you will see more than 3,000 underground saltwater pools. The water evaporates in the sun and leaves layers of natural pink salt. Local families harvest it by hand just as their ancestors did.
12:30 PM – 01:45 PM: Return to Cusco.
The bus starts the return trip to the imperial city.
02:00 PM: Arrival in downtown Cusco.
The shuttle will drop you off near the Plaza de Armas, just in time for you to find a place to have lunch.
